Model
The Polk Audio Monitor 30 is a 2-way set of bookshelf speakers. They are designed for home theaters, but they can also be used as general speakers for music listening.
This was important to me because I knew that my friend liked to listen to music when she cleans and works around the house!
Each enclosure is made from MDF and ¾” baffles. This reduces that annoying buzzing sound that some speaker enclosures make when the bass hits.This was a big selling point for me. I didn’t want to buy speakers that make that awful rattle noise!
Of course, to warrant the need for this feature, I am sure that you can guess that there is quite a bit of bass behind these speakers. The Polk Audio Monitor 30 speakers can be set as low as 60-80Hz, delivering some pretty heavy bass.

The black works perfectly with modern décor, and the cherry finish can go with more rustic décor or warm, vintage looks. Either way, both sets of the Polk Audio Monitor 30 speakers are classy. They even look professional enough to sit in an office.
Features and Benefits
I found a lot of really great features with the Polk Audio Monitor surround sound system. Some of the ones I found most beneficial were:
- All MDF enclosure with ¾” baffles
- Mylar bypass capacitor crossovers that provide detailed high frequencies
- High efficiency design that enables a clear, open, spacious sound, even with modest amps and receivers
- 5 ¼ inch bi-laminate composite dynamic balance driver (Driver is lightweight and stiff, so you get high-efficiency damping, strong bass, lower distortion, and great midrange clarity.)
- Built-in keyhole for wall mounting
- Tuned flared port to minimize port noise
Probably the biggest selling point for me on these speakers was the magnetic shield. Not all speakers have this.
Without this feature, the picture on your television set will become distorted. Not exactly what I had in mind when looking for a surround sound speaker component!
Thankfully, the Polk Audio Monitor 30 comes with this great feature, so there is nothing to worry about. The TV picture still comes in clear, even though the speakers are sitting next to a television.
